The ambulance that drives past Dawn as she listens to the radio broadcast in the car was unplanned. That was a real ambulance that drove by.

The scene in the pizza restaurant was originally meant to take place in a burger restaurant, but Damien Leone changed this when he realized that both Jenna Kanell and Catherine Corcoran are vegetarian.

The scenes involving explosions and fire after the destruction of Buenos Aires were actually videos taken from the Oakland Hills fire in October of 1991.

In a 2016 interview, Casper Van Dien revealed in an interview about an funny incident when he was picking up his two daughters from school, "I went by the line at school to pick up my kids. You know, you drive up to the school and when I get there and there are these six 10 and 8 year old boys hanging out with my daughters. I pull up in the line and the boys go "JOHNNY RICO! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US YOUR DAD WAS JOHNNY RICO!" and I said " what are you boys doing watching STARSHIP TROOPERS!" and they said "our dads made us watch it with them!" then my daughters get in the car and my 10 year old says "dad were you really naked in STARSHIP TROOPERS?" and I said "yeah" and she said " HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME!" then my 8 year old says "wait, like naked naked?" and I said "yup" and she said "OH MY GOD MY LIFE IS RUINED!". That was the longest three minute ride home I have had in my life"

More ammunition was used in this film than in any previous movie.

During filming Jake Busey (Ace) suffered heat stroke after working all day in 120 degrees desert sun, this stopped production for a week, when he recovered several large holes were cut into his uniform so he could cool off, many other cast members suits had this modification as well in order to prevent further cases on average there were 25 people per day being treated for heatstroke during filming.

The opening recruitment scene of the Mobile Infantry is modeled after the propaganda movie Triumph of the Will (1935).

Mark Wahlberg turned down the role of Johnny Rico.

The base that houses the Fleet Academy is named "Tereshkova" after Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space. There are many more examples in the movie of the future being gender-neutral (meaning there is no bigotry based on gender), such as the mixed-shower scene and the female captain.

The combat helmets were repainted again and used by the SWAT team at the end of the 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes.

Dialogue changes in German version: when Mr. Rasczak is talking about failure of democracy and how the veterans took control. Only citizens are allowed to vote, in the German version all this is changed about some talking about the war against the bugs,democracy is not mentioned. "Service guarantees citizenship" is changed to "Fight for the Future" * also during the classroom scene when Mr. Rasczak is talking about violence he says "I wonder what the city fathers of Hiroshima would say about that" and Carmen replies "They probably wouldn't say anything Hiroshima was destroyed" this scene was removed from the Japanese version. In the German version Mr. Rasczak says "I wonder what the citizens of Washington would say about that". And Carmen replies "They probably wouldn't say anything Washington was destroyed during the first Bug War".

In an early Federation broadcast, there is a psychic who says, "If you think you're psychic, maybe you are." The psychic is played by Timothy Omundson, who stars in the TV series 'Psych'. In the series, he plays a police detective who is constantly at odds with 'psychic' Shawn Spencer and determined to prove him a fraud.

Dale Dye was the movies Military Adviser, reportedly putting the main actors through a one week long intense boot camp, just like all of his other films.

Cameo: Edward Neumeier: The screenwriter appears as the criminal sentenced to death during one media break.

TRIVIA: Temperance Brennan is an anthropologist who writes about the character Kathy Reichs in her spare time. In real-life, Kathy Reichs is an anthropologist who writes about the character Temperance Brennan.

Angela's father is played by ZZ Top member Billy Gibbons, and there have been several indications that the audience is supposed to understand that her father IS Billy Gibbons (albeit a fictional version of Gibbons, since Angela is fictional). Although Angela's dad has never been given a name, before his first appearance Angela told her friends that her father is famous enough that they might recognize him immediately, and during Gibbons' appearances, there have been several references to the music of ZZ Top.

Emily Deschanel's sister, Zooey, appeared on season five, episode ten, "The Goop on the Girl". She appeared as Brennan's cousin Margaret from Wisconsin.

In season five, episode nine, "Gamer in the Grease", Sweets, Hodgins, and Fisher take turns camping out to get tickets to see Avatar (2009). Joel David Moore (Fisher) played Norm in Avatar (2009).

The establishing exterior shots of the "Jeffersonian Institute" are filmed on the Exposition Park Rose Gardens side of The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

There have been several references to Agent Seeley Booth being a "direct descendant" of John Wilkes Booth. In reality, is is highly unlikely that John Wilkes Booth had any direct descendants. As the assassin of Abraham Lincoln, and the first assassin of any U.S. President, John Wilkes Booth's life history has been exhaustively scrutinized by generations of historical scholars, and there is absolutely no evidence that he ever married or fathered any children, legitimate or illegitimate. Several of John Wilkes Booth's brothers and sisters did have children, but in genealogical terms, to be a direct descendant John Wilkes Booth, Seeley Booth would have to be descended from a child of his, and not just a niece or nephew.

Daisy Wick is the name of one of the secondary characters. Daisy Zick is the name of a real-life murder victim from Battle Creek, Michigan in 1963. The crime remains unsolved.

Ryan O'Neal, who plays Bones's (Emily Deschanel's) father, is an Academy Award nominee. In real life, Emily's father, Caleb Deschanel, is a nominee as well.

In season eleven, the actress who plays Christine is Sunnie Pelant - the same last name as the serial killer, Christopher Pelant, in earlier seasons.

FILM 1738: CULT OF CHUCKY

TRIVIA: Don Mancini wrote the film. He also wrote every Chucky film to date.

Nica is played by Fiona Dourif, daughter of Brad Dourif, who voices Chucky.

Chucky mentions that one of the other dolls sounds like Hannibal Lecter and that he can't believe they canceled that show. Don Mancini wrote 2 episodes for Hannibal.

Chucky comments the asylum is a "f***ing cuckoos nest". Brad Dourif, who voices Chucky was in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.

ANOTHER TOP FIVE: HORROR MOVIES

I realized when making the last top five that I love horror films so much and there are so many good ones that I couldn’t leave it at one top five so as it’s Halloween and all here’s another list…

1. THE HAUNTING (1963)

The remake of this doesn’t even come close to the original. It’s a truly haunting story of a group taking part in a paranormal experiment in a super creepy house. The scenes with the banging coming from just outside the door make actual hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

2. DEAD OF NIGHT (1945)

The original, and in some ways the best, British anthology horror film. It starts with a man talking about a strange dream, which leads to others in the group to tell their tales of the supernatural, the ventriloquist dummy is the one that stands out here though.

3. HIGH TENSION (2003)

This is a gory entry into the top five, I don’t shy away from gore, I just don’t find it as scary as the kind of horrors that are more understated and uses your own imagination to create the fear. That being said, I was on the edge of my seat watching the seemingly unrelenting dread-fest that was this film. The suspense was immense and the ending was unusually surprising.

4. MISERY (1990)

This is one of those films that I can watch over and over. It’s maybe not classed as a horror by everyone – but the scene with the legs (if you’ve seen it, you know) I think is more horrific that a lot of modern gore-based horror. The psychology behind the character of Annie Wilkes is fascinating and the idea of a kindly sinister psychopath is terrifying.

5. THE EXORIST (1973)

This is a classic, and for a good reason. When I was a kid I was so keen to watch this (and wasn’t allowed to) that I read the book (some of it was a little dull and the film is a lot better). Not only is the film great, with some really ingenious tricks to make the special effects (the documentary of the making of is a really interesting watch), but the added bonus of the stories of the curse surrounding it makes it one of the most famous horror films of all time. FILM 1708: GERALD'S GAME

TRIVIA: The woman from the dream Jessie describes as standing over a well during an eclipse is Dolores Claiborne, the main character from Stephen King's 1992 novel of the same name.

Gerald refers to the dog as Cujo, which is a reference to the Stephen King book by the same name.

Features virtually no soundtrack during the course of the film.

This is the fourth collaboration between Kate Siegel and Mike Flanagan since Oculus(2013), Hush (2016) and Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016).
