At Home With Gloria Vanderbilt
Aaron Shikler painted this portrait
of Ms. Vanderbilt in 1982. He wanted to paint her barefoot, she recalled, “I
said, ‘But I have the prettiest shoes!’ ” Later, she regretted that decision,
and Shikler promised to repaint her feet. “But we broke up before he had the
chance.”
