TRIVIA: When Nascimento enters the restaurant to confront Guaracy, the man wearing the blue and white striped shirt who stands to congratulate him is Rodrigo Pimentel, the real-life former BOPE officer who co-wrote the screenplay of 'Tropa de Elite', and whom the character of Nascimento is based upon.

The character of Diogo Fraga is based on the real life Rio de Janeiro State Representative Marcelo Freixo. On the first scene with Diogo Fraga where he is giving a lecture in a classroom, the real Marcelo Freixo can be seen sitting on the first row.

About 11.1 million paying viewers made it the most seen movie in Brazilian cinema history. It also became the highest-grossing film of all time in Brazil, beating Avatar (2009)'s record.

Film 838: I Saw the Devil

Trivia: The film marks Choi's first major role since his self-imposed exile over his protest of the Korean screen quota system. It also reunites Lee with Kim who have worked together in the past on films such as A Bittersweet Life.

The Korea Media Rating Board forced Kim to recut the film for its theatrical release, objecting to its violent content. Otherwise, the film would have gotten a "Restricted" rating, preventing any sort of release in theaters or on home video.

Film 795: Persepolis

Trivia: France's official submission for the Best Foreign-Language Film category at The 80th Annual Academy Awards. 

Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni lent their voices to the movie's English- and French-language versions, playing the same roles. 

The title, "Persepolis," means "Persian City" in Greek. The word is the Greek transliteration of the Old Persian word "Parsa" ("City of Persians"). Parsa, or Persepolis, was an actual ancient city that existed in Persia c. 550-330 BC. Its ruins still stand in southern Iran today.
