FILM 1581: THE CONJURING 2 

TRIVIA: James Wan was offered a "life-altering" amount of money in order to direct Fast 8 (2017). However, he turned that opportunity down to direct The Conjuring 2 (2016) instead. "I feel rejuvenated to tell a scary story one more time," Wan wrote on Instagram.

The remaining members of the Hodgson family visited the set. Frances O'Connor, who portrays their late mother, refused to meet them, as she feared it would affect her performance.

Patrick Wilson did his own singing.

On the first day of shooting, a priest was brought in to bless the set.

One of the real-life allegations that didn't feature in the movie, was that the Hodgson children's toys were thrown around and were too hot to touch.

Some have claimed that the real Janet is a gifted ventriloquist or the power to manipulate voices and she admitted faking some events. She revealed that around two percent of the haunting was phony during an interview with The Telegraph.

The opening scene where the Warrens are seen partaking in a séance in the Amityville Horror House, Lorraine is seen wearing a trenchcoat and a skirt. Inspiration for this costume was taken from what the real Lorraine Warren wore during a séance in real life during the Amityville case. She wore a replica of the outfit right down to the styling of her hair.

The ghost boy that Lorraine sees when astral projecting is based on the infamous Amityville photo supposedly taken by Gene Campbell, a professional photographer who was part of the team who worked with paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The Society of Psychical Research in England researched this case long before The Warrens, and it was determined it was Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis. Grosse and Playfaire moved into the house at one point and investigated this case for over a year. The Warrens just showed up and stayed for a couple of days.

FILM 1447: THE VOICES

TRIVIA: Ryan Reynolds modeled the voice of the cat after a Scottish friend he has known for over twenty years.

Director Marjane Satrapi was initially going to hire voice actors for the animals' voices, however Ryan Reynolds convinced her that he should do them as they are voices that his character hears in his head, and therefore should be different variations of his voice. He convinced her by sending her recordings of his voice, tailored specifically for each of the animals.

The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2009 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year.

FILM 1327: FIELD OF DREAMS

TRIVIA: After the movie was completed test audiences didn't like the name "Shoeless" Joe Jackson because they said it sounded like a movie about a bum or hobo. Universal called director-screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson to tell him that "Shoeless Joe" didn't work, and the studio changed the title of the film to "Field of Dreams". When Robinson heard the news of the change, he called W.P. Kinsella, the author of the book, and told him the "bad" news, but apparently he didn't care, saying that "Shoeless Joe" was the title the publishing company gave the book. Kinsella's original title was "Dream Field".

The studio built the baseball diamond on an actual farm in Dyersville, Iowa. After the filming was completed, the family owning the farm kept the field, and added a small hut where you could buy inexpensive souvenirs. As of 1990, visitors were free to come to the field and play baseball as they please.

The movie's line "If you build it, he will come." was voted as the #39 movie quote by the American Film Institute (out of 100).

Thousands of pallets of green grass were brought in to make the baseball field, but due to the haste in planting because of the shooting schedule, the grass was not able to grow appropriately and died. In order to keep the grass green, the production crew painted the grass.

Then unknown, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are among the thousands of extras in the Fenway Park scene, and are uncredited. Over a decade later, when Phil Alden Robinson welcomed Affleck to the set of The Sum of All Fears (2002), Affleck said, "Nice working with you again." Robinson asked, "What do you mean 'again'?" and Affleck explained the connection.

J.D. Salinger, on whom the character Terence Mann is based, was very offended by the fictional portrayal of himself in W.P. Kinsella's novel "Shoeless Joe", upon which the film is based. His lawyers said that they would be "unhappy if it [the story] were transferred to other media," so the studio created the character of Terence Mann.

Moonlight Graham's one-game baseball career is not as rare as might be suspected. In fact, there are nearly 1,500 players whose entire Major League career consisted of just one game.

The last cinema film of Burt Lancaster. He was 74 at the time of filming.
