TRIVIA: If Dwayne Johnson could play any other role in the film, he'd play Jack Black's character, Bethany. Johnson said, "I know how much fun [Jack] had every day playing a 16-year-old self-obsessed girl."

The statues in the jungle set are modeled after the board game pieces in the original film.

Tom Holland was originally cast as Seaplane McDonough, but had to drop out of the film, due to scheduling conflicts with Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). So Nick Jonas was cast in his place.

Although the listed running time is 90 minutes, this is approximate depending how long the viewer decides to keep watching. The total amount of footage included to make all of the film's possible variations work is 5 hours 12 minutes 13 seconds, as revealed by the film's BBFC classification.

The fax sounds you hear at the end of Bandersnatch on Stefan's headphone translates to a QR code. That leads you to a website where you will find one of the games that's being shown in the movie.

In Colin's apartment there is a poster for Philip K. Dick's 'Ubik': a sci-fi story that deals with themes of free will and death much like Bandersnatch.

A poster that reads "METL HEDD" with a dog-like figure can be seen, a reference to the Black Mirror episode Black Mirror: Metalhead (2017), in which a woman is chased by robotic dogs after the unexplained collapse of human society.

Steven Spielberg is referenced (along with some of his movies) in Ernest Cline's source novel. Spielberg had stated that he would remove these references, although some like the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the alien ship from War of the Worlds (2005), do appear.

At one point in the movie, the gang goes into a simulation of the hotel from The Shining(1980). In real life, Steven Spielberg was close friends with The Shining's director, Stanley Kubrick. Spielberg even once called the scene where Wendy finds Jack's novel as "a great example of counter intuitive direction".

The Zemeckis Cube is named after director Robert Zemeckis. When the cube is activated, the music playing is from the Back to the Future (1985) trilogy, directed by Zemeckis. Alan Silvestri composed the score for both the Back to the Future trilogy and this film.

The box containing the Orb of Osuvox is the same one Gizmo is in when he's given to Billy in Gremlins (1984).

The character Curator, that guides people around Halliday's Journal is based on long time popular character actor Arthur Treacher, best known for playing butlers and other British roles.

Around the 35' mark, Halliday is shown on the cover of WIRED magazine with a QR code. The code is readable, and links to an accompanying article on Halliday (July 2018).

During the scene inside the shop, in the background you can see the flying RV from Spaceballs, the space pod from 2001, a Colonial Viper, a star fighter from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Ed 209, and a loader from Aliens.

On August 11, 2015, a rumor began circulating that Steven Spielberg was "courting" Gene Wilder to play OASIS creator James Halliday in his later years, which would've made this the first film Wilder has done since 1999. However, Wilder's dementia had progressed to a point where he could no longer remember lines and couldn't take the part.

When Wade first goes to the club to meet Art3mis, the bartender has a Devo Hat on from their famous video Whip It.

The team of pop-culture experts that help Sorrento hunt for the Halliday Easter Egg are called "oologists" in the movie. Oology is an actual science that studies and collects bird eggs.

Film 923: Wreck it Ralph

Trivia: Unlike most animated films, the principal actors regularly recorded audio sessions together in the same room, a situation which led to a lot of improvising.

Disney first began developing an animated film about the world of video game characters in the 1980s. At that time the project was called "High Score" and in the 1990s was titled "Joe Jump." In the 2000s, when the movie was finally pushed forward, the first two months of story development focused on Fix-It Felix Jr. as the main character.

Early in production it was considered to keep all characters in their native graphic quality, essentially making Ralph look 8-bit the entire time. This was deemed too difficult for making Ralph a sympathetic, lovable character.

The arcade owner character, Mr. Litwak, wears a referee's shirt as a reference to real life personality Walter Day, owner of the Twin Galaxies Arcade in Ottumwa, IA. Day is best know for appearing in the arcade documentaries Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade and The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.

King Candy's voice and character design is modeled after Ed Wynn a popular comedian and voice artist, best known as the voice of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland and Uncle Albert in Mary Poppins.

The bartender game which appears, "Tapper," was controversial in real life. The game featured a bartender serving mugs of Budweiser beer. The game was intended for adults to play in real life bars, but eventually made its way into kid-friendly arcades where parents became upset at the content. Consequently, Bally Midway recreated a nearly identical version called "Root Beer Tapper," with a soda jerk character instead of a bartender. The version in Wreck-It Ralph combines the bartender character of the original with the root beer of the later version.

The 'glitch' shown in the Disney logo at the end (see Crazy Credits) is intended to look like the infamous "Pac-Man Bomb Screen", a bug that manifests itself when reaching the 256th level in the original Pac-Man arcade game.

There is a piece of graffiti on the right side of the tunnel which reads "Leerooooy", a nod to Leeroy Jenkins, a World of Warcraft player who obtained Internet fame from a video of him running head-long into battle while shouting his own name.

The DJ at Fix-it Felix's 30th anniversary party is designed after Skrillex, a real life dubstep artist, who also wrote the music from the scene in which Ralph first goes into battle in Hero's Duty.

The Guard for the Baking Factory is Beard Papa, the mascot for a Japanese cream puff shop of the same name. While he is sleeping he is dreaming about cream puffs.

The train station of Nice Land shows that the population is 224x256, the common resolution of an 8-Bit game.

In the scene of Fix-It Felix Jr's party, Ralph is enraged by Gene and smashes the cake. The cake splatter around the room and on Ralph resembles the shape of an alien in "Space Invaders", an iconic arcade game released in 1978.
