TRIVIA: Ferry Captain Vincent Lombardi, who was the Captain of the first ferry to reach the plane, played himself in the movie.

Chesley Sullenberger was present at the studio. He supported the movie and helped it to reflect reality.

Clint Eastwood deliberately filmed the escape onto the life raft without rehearsal to capture the physical difficulty of releasing the raft. Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart's actions were unscripted.

The actual Airbus A320 involved in the incident was recovered from the Hudson and placed on display at the Carolina's Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte was the original destination for this flight. Footage shown during the credits, with the actual passengers and crew, was shot at the museum.

"Cactus" was the air traffic control name for America West Airlines, so named because it was based in Phoenix and needed to sound distinct from American Airlines. America West later became part of US Airways. That's why the flight is identified as "Cactus 1549."

During the in-flight emergency, Sully asks his co-pilot Jeff Skiles to "get the QRH." The Quick Reference Handbook (QRH) contains all the procedures applicable for abnormal and emergency conditions in an easy-to-use format. In addition, performance data corrections are also provided for specific conditions. The aviation acronym "QRH" is never explained or defined anywhere in the movie.

At 96 minutes, this is the shortest film Clint Eastwood has directed.

This is the first collaboration between Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks.

The song "A Real Hero" by French electronica artist College, in collaboration with Electric Youth, released in 2010, is about Captain Chesley Sullenberger and the U.S. Airways Flight 1549 water landing incident. Electric Youth frontman Austin Garrick was inspired to write the song by a quote from his grandfather, who spoke of Sullenberger and the incident. Garrick's grandfather referred to Sullenberger as "a real human being and a real hero," which became the song's refrain. The song has been featured in films including Drive (2011) and Taken 2 (2012).

TRIVIA: Left Behind author Tim Lahaye makes a cameo appearance in a scene riding the escalator in the mall.

The end credit song, I Wish We All Were Ready, was from another rapture based series called A Thief in the Night, made in 1972 and released by Mark IV Pictures.

A planned sequel was launched on the crowd funding site Indiegogo but due to the poor reception of this film the project was a colossal failure, not even managing to reach 20% of its $500,000 goal

TRIVIA: The story was originally the concept for an abandoned The X-Files (1993) television script, which was partially inspired on the main plot of Sole Survivor (1983).

(at around 4 mins) The shot of Alex's bedside clock, which fades in from 1.00am to 180, took 5 days to get correct.

(at around 4 mins) In the opening scene, Devon Sawa (Alex) was supposed to pretend to be asleep. He actually fell asleep for four hours.

Much of the news footage shown is actual footage from the July 1996 explosion and crash of TWA Flight 800 off East Moriches, Long Island, New York.

Kerr Smith and Seann William Scott took travel sickness pills (Dramamine) before each plane crash take and were half asleep and very weak during the shots - that's why they aren't shown close-up much.

Clear's cabin was also the cabin from Lake Placid (1999).

The original casting choices for Alex and Clear were Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Both of them would later start in Spider-Man 2 (2004) years later as Spider man and Mary Jane respectively.

The Chinese title translates as "The Death God Comes".

(at around 31 mins) The speech that Tod gives at the funeral is a quote from Marcel Proust.

(at around 3 mins) In Alex's room, you can see a poster for Edward Furlong's movie Pecker (1998) which also has Christina Ricci in it. Devon Sawa was in both Casper (1995) and Now and Then (1995) with Christina Ricci.

FILM 1529: WILD TALES

TRIVIA: This is the seventh film from Argentina to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and the third in a row with Ricardo Darín as a leading star (after Son of the Bride (2001) and The Secret in Their Eyes (2009)).

The site of the bridge, in which the tale "The Strongest" was filmed, is actually the 60th kilometer on the route between Cafayate and Salta, as the character in the tale mentions. This place has become a kind of a tourist attraction nowadays, as can be seen in Google Street View at coordinates (-25.730669,-65.6967926).

During the credits at the beginning, each main actor of each tale is identified with a wild animal. In the director's case, it is a fox. Szifrón said that this was because his father had liked foxes a lot, and had used to watch lots of documentaries about them. He also felt identified with that picture, more specifically with the fox's gaze, as the job of a director is in the gaze.

Damián Szifrón, the writer and director of the film, wrote most of the tales in his bathtub. He actually said: " The bath is a great place". He even lit some candles and poured himself a drink.

Trivia: Olivia Wilde and Dominique McElligott were considered for the role of Nicole.

Reunites Denzel Washington and John Goodman, who worked together in Fallen. It also reunites Washington with Don Cheadle, who worked together in Devil in a Blue Dress.

Robert Zemeckis' first live-action movie since Cast Away.

According to producers Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke (during a Q&A session with the Producers' Guild on October 18th, 2012), the primary airplane in the film is a pastiche of several existing commercial airliners so as to not ID a particular plane or airline in the film. Also, no promotional consideration was paid by any of the alcohol brands featured in the movie; they decided to feature beer, wine and hard liquor brands for one shot only so as not to "endorse" any of them.

When the audience is first introduced to John Goodman's character, he's listening to "Sympathy For The Devil". This song also appeared in Fallen which also starred him and Denzel Washington.
