Please Don't Come Back from the Moon (2005) was his debut novel, about fathers in Maple Rock, Detroit abandoning their families under a strange compulsion to go to the moon. It is narrated by the young Mikey, a would-be writer, whose father feels the same desire to leave. The New York Times said it "deftly weld[ed] magic realism with social satire". Entertainment Weekly gave it a B- saying it turned into a very conventional coming-of-age story. People gave it 3.5/4.

BOOK 161: DOWNTOWN OWL: A NOVEL: CHUCK KLOSTERMAN

Written by Chuck Klosterman, first published by Scribner in 2008. It is the author's first all-fictional publication.

In October 2012, Gettin' Rad Productions, the production company owned by Adam Scott and his wife, Naomi Scott, optioned the movie rights to Downtown Owl. “It’s lovely and moving and funny. We just thought it’s a really great story about people that I relate to but also small enough that it would make a good first film out of the gate for us," Adam Scott was quoted in The Hollywood Reporter. However, no further updates on the film project have been released since then.

Film School Rejects writer Neil Miller said, "This book is rich with unique and interesting characters and situations that would be perfect matches for a Coen-esque romp through 1983 rural North Dakota."

FILM 1534: DISTURBING BEHAVIOR

TRIVIA: Nutter did wanted to release his director's cut at the time when movie was released on DVD but he wasn't allowed by MGM to do that. Director's cut was never released although there is a fanedit of the film available online which has all the deleted scenes and original ending from DVD edited back into the film making it 103 minutes long and is much closer to the director's cut.

Early in the film the sheriff refers to an up coming football game with Knights Ridge. Knights Ridge was the setting of Beautiful Girls (1996), which was also written by this films writer, Scott Rosenberg.

The personifications of good and evil in the town are named Newberry and Caldicott, which happen to be the names of the two prestigious book prizes awarded by the American Library Association for Excellence in Children's Books (one for novels and one for picture books).

FILM 1519: DRIVE ME CRAZY

TRIVIA: Originally titled Next to You, was renamed after the Britney Spears song, "(You Drive Me) Crazy (The Stop Remix!)", was added to the soundtrack. To help promote the movie, Melissa Joan Hart and Adrian Grenier both appeared in the music video for the song.

The Donnas were formerly called The Electrocutes.

FILM 1493: VALENTINE ROAD
