FILM 1591: 25TH HOUR

TRIVIA: Tobey Maguire bought the rights to the original novel with the intent of starring. He later decided to do Spider-Man (2002), although he did stay on this film as a producer.

Writer David Benioff said in a BBC interview, "The first time I saw [Edward Norton] on set he pulled back his hair and showed me his widow's peak. In the book, Monty Brogan has a widow's peak, but I hadn't mentioned it in the script. But Edward so wanted to be in character that he wore a prosthetic widow's peak for the entire shoot."

Monty's line, "Champagne for my real friends, and real pain for my sham friends," is a Francis Bacon quote.

David Benioff, who wrote the original novel is one of the two creators of the Game of Thrones series on HBO.

The film cast includes two Oscar winners: Anna Paquin and Philip Seymour Hoffman; and one Oscar nominee: Edward Norton.

FILM 1410: THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 1

TRIVIA: Pollux, an avox, is actually signing in American Sign Language to Castor when he is introduced to Katniss. He signs, "She is beautiful," and Castor signs back in agreement.

According to Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence would purposely eat foods with garlic or tuna fish before any kissing scenes between the two.

Jennifer Lawrence did her own singing for "The Hanging Tree" segment. Worldwide, the song went #1 on the iTunes Sales Chart.

Dedicated to Philip Seymour Hoffman, who tragically died with one week of filming left. He plays Plutarch Heavensbee. Since the majority of his scenes for the final two movies were already filmed, the role was not re-cast, but finished with other characters taking on his lines, like Effie Trinket, for example.

Jennifer Lawrence cut her hair short the summer before filming began, due to damage from constant dyeing for the previous films. As a result, Lawrence had to wear a wig in "Mockingjay" for her role of Katniss.

The dog wandering in District 12 is Donald Sutherland's dog, Biggles.

Fourth film to co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore. Both had previously costarred in Boogie Nights (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998), and Magnolia (1999).

Film 1082: Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead

Trivia: Sidney Lumet's final film.

Title taken from the Irish toast: "May you have food and raiment, a soft pillow for your head; may you be 40 years in heaven, before the devil knows you're dead."

In the original script, Andrew and Hank Hanson were not brothers. Sidney Lumet made this change to increase the drama of the movie. He also removed the character of Andrew & Gina's daughter.

In the DVD's Director's commentary, Sidney Lumet says the nude scene between Gina and Hank was shot, Ethan Hawke wanted to make Marisa Tomei, feel more comfortable, and insisted on being nude as well. He further insisted that every male crew member strip naked while filming the scene to accommodate Tomei.

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke are both in real-life old friends of Marisa Tomei.
